Winter Newsletter 2009

Welcome to our last newsletter of the year which we have deliberately kept shorter than our last as we know what a busy time of year this is for everyone.

Please don't forget our Christmas Open Weekend this coming weekend. We have been busy in the galleries adding festive touches and fresh stock to our showrooms. Our opening times for the weekend are 10.00am till 6.00pm on Saturday 5th and 10.00am till 5.00pm on Sunday 6th.

We really hope you will be able to come and enjoy some mulled wine and mince pies with us as you peruse the variety of stock we have on offer, not forgetting the special guest appearance of Anthea A.G.Antiques Ltd. with a wonderful selection of fine jewellery. We are also excited about the launch of The Edenbridge Galleries Gift Vouchers.

These offer the perfect solution for those 'difficult to buy for people'! Further information below.

Live music and a party atmosphere should ensure this weekend will not be one to miss!

The galleries are building quite a reputation for hosting interesting and entertaining talks and Commander John Morton Lee's illustrated talk in September was no exception. He enthralled a packed audience with a talk and slideshow to launch his recently published book on 19th century watercolourist, Thomas Bush Hardy, "A Master Painter of Marine and Coastal Watercolours". Copies of the book are still available from the galleries priced at £30.00. Making the perfect gift for Christmas.

Just this past week Lennox and John Lusk from Mrs Monro Ltd gave a fascinating insight into the world of interior design with a talk to mark National Antiques Week.

Our first event for 2010 will be hosted by Brian Watson which you can read about below.

This leaves us to say on behalf of us all at The Edenbridge Galleries we wish you a very Happy Christmas & New Year and look forward to seeing many of you at the weekend.

Lennox & Sue

Please note we will be closed between Christmas and New Year. Re-open Monday 4th January 2010.

We are delighted that Brian and Gillian Watson of Brian Watson Antique Glass will be hosting the first Glass Symposium to be held at the galleries. The Symposium will consist of three sessions, during the first one on Friday 15th January at 2.00pm, Brian will be enlightening us about engraved glass from the 17th to the 19th century. On Saturday 16th January at 11.00am Brian will advise on building a library of books about glass, there will also be an opportunity to purchase books. This will be followed by an afternoon discussion session at 2.00pm, where collectors will be able to talk and discuss their own glass collections and there will also be an examination of objects. This should prove a rewarding and stimulating event for both novice and experienced glass collectors. If you would like to take part in all or some of these events please contact the galleries. There will be no charge and refreshments will be provided.

Brian and Gillian have been dealing in 18th and 19th century drinking glasses since 1991 and the majority of their stock comes from private collections, enabling the discerning collector to view items fresh to the market.
