October Newsletter 2012

As we write this letter we are just mid-way through our highly successful 'Landmarks' exhibition. Dianne has received a fantastic response. All her hard work and efforts have been truly worthwhile with visitors travelling from all over the country to see this one off exhibition. Saturday proved highly educational for those attending her talk on 'Romantic Ruins on Tunbridge Ware' which culminated in delicious tea and home made cake! The exhibition continues until this Saturday 20th.

We look forward to hosting more of these types of events by our other specialists in due course.

In the meantime several of our dealers are preparing for forthcoming fairs of which you will find details of in Dates for your Diary below. In the galleries we are busy organising our Christmas Open Weekend 1st and 2nd December. This year we are delighted to be hosting a wonderful selling exhibition of new and vintage Teddy Bears kindly organised by Sue Pearson. Sue is one of the countries leading authorities on Teddy Bears and dolls and has written many books on the subject. She will be here on both days and will be hosting presentations on her subject each afternoon. Sue is also happy for you to bring along your own teddies for any information and free valuations. There will be more on this event in the November Newsletter.

If you have recently viewed our website you will now see we have a language feature, so feel free to pass our website onto your friends in foreign parts. They can now change the text to whichever language they prefer. Hopefully this will make life easier for our overseas clients.

As always we look forward to seeing you soon either in the galleries or at one of the forthcoming fairs.

With best wishes,
Lennox, Sue and all at the galleries.

Competition of the Month

We had several entries for last month's competition to identify the some what strange table and several got quite near! However, a Mrs. Sharon Butler answered correctly by saying it was an anthropomorphic tripod table originating in the Isle of Man, otherwise known as a Manx Table. This one in mahogany and with fine quality carved legs and feet. Circa 1790 - 1800.

This month we have an offering from Dianne Brick which has coincided with her Tunbridge Ware exhibition. This Tunbridge Ware glove box has a view of Warwick Castle. Which other view on Tunbridge Ware featured in Amherst Antiques' Landmarks exhibition is in the same county? To help you with your answer visit www.amherstantiques.co.uk where all the Tunbridge Ware in the exhibition can be viewed on the Christmas List and Previews Page. All answers via email or phone by October 31st please. Good luck!!!
