October Newsletter 2011
Welcome
How lovely that the first part of October has been so mild therefore giving everyone who visited our galleries the opportunity to visit without the need for umbrellas and raincoats!!
Many of our dealers who exhibited at recent fairs noted that interest was still high on purchasing antique furniture, paintings, silver, porcelain and fine rugs etc. Despite the economic situation it seems that items of quality still prevail. Surely, better to be able to enjoy or indeed be able to use something of beauty, rather than have money sitting in the bank!
So, as the evenings draw in and the leaves fall we start to prepare for autumn. Firstly we are looking forward to celebrating National Antiques Week, John Robertson is beginning to organise a show of works by David Napp and Dianne Brick is preparing for her Master Class afternoon at The Spa Hotel, Tunbridge Wells. Mrs. Monro Ltd. have been busy visiting clients ensuring their homes look beautiful just in time for Christmas and preparation's for the festivities at our Christmas Open Weekend are also in full swing. For further information please see 'Dates for your Diary' at the end of this letter.
In the meantime we hope you enjoy perusing the pieces we have selected for our Signature Pieces section. Don't forget you can click on an image and it will take you through to the item concerned on our website to view the full information.
Our best wishes,
Lennox, Sue and all at the galleries.

National Antiques Week 14th – 21st November 2011
In collaboration with BBC Homes & Antiques magazine and Antiques News & Fairs, antique dealers and enthusiasts all around the country will be celebrating the merits of buying and collecting antiques. We will be singing from the tree tops and spreading the word of how individual and unique an antique piece is. How ecologically friendly it is to our environment, how long lasting they can be and how perfectly appealing they are to have in ones home.
This is the time to go out and support your local antiques shop, become an avid collector or simply look to furnish your own home with beautiful pieces.
On Thursday 17th November, Lennox Cato will be presenting a talk entitled 'Buying for Investment'. Lennox will discuss what to look for when buying antiques and will cover the complexities of valuing antique pieces. The evening will commence at 7pm with a welcome glass of wine and an opportunity to view the galleries before the talk begins at 7.45pm. Tickets are bookable in advance at £15 per person incl. vat. Wine and nibbles will be served and the evening will finish at approximately 9.30pm after a questions and answers session.
Please vote for us!
So many people tell us how much they enjoy visiting the galleries and if you are one of those people could we ask you to spare 5 minutes of your time to cast your vote in the Britain's Best Antiques Shop competition. You will have the opportunity to win one of ten fantastic prizes, each with a value of nearly £200. Please go to the logo opposite and it will take you through to a voting form. GOOD LUCK and thank you!
