Welcome
We are now taking a breather after our many exhibitions and events which have taken place over the last few months. Lastly was Lennox Cato's 'Dealing in Excellence' Part II, a summer selling exhibition showcasing a carefully selected display of fine quality pieces. Thank you to everyone who came along, we do hope you enjoyed the event and were happy with any purchases made. The catalogue is still available and is a worthwhile edition to your 'antique' library! It can also be viewed online at http://issuu.com/onlinegalleries/docs/summer_exhibition_2015_online

Even though we are taking things a little more calmly at present we now prepare for our autumn programme. Firstly, Dianne and Ivor Brick of Amherst Antiques, will be celebrating thirty years of dealing in Tunbridge Ware. They are hosting an 'At Home With Amherst' day to be held at the galleries on Sunday 6th September. The day is free of charge and will start at 11am when Dianne will discuss a needlework box by a member of the Burrows family. The afternoon session will start at 2.30pm when she will discuss a combined needlework and writing box by Henry Hollamby. Refreshments will be provided both mid-morning and in the afternoon, but lunch arrangements will be left to you. The Old Eden is a popular choice and can be booked on 01732 862398. Full information can be found on Dianne's website. Click Here

On Saturday 12th September the galleries will hold their first Valuation Day! This event will run a little bit like the Antiques Roadshow but there will be a small fee for each item brought along to be valued and all proceeds will go to our local Edenbridge Hospital. The Hospital League of Friends will also set up a pop-up tea room for you to indulge yourself in delicious homemade cake and tea or coffee. So start rummaging around in those attics and see what you can find. If the item is too big to carry please bring along a clear photograph. Our specialists are extremely knowledgeable and with Lennox on board to handle miscellaneous as well as furniture, you should be able to go away with the knowledge that you may have something of great value, or, as is most often the case.....of no value at all! However, this will be a great opportunity to find out for sure and raise money for our wonderful cottage hospital at the same time.
More details on this event will be available in the next letter.

Lennox will be taking part in the Antiques Roadshow at Walmer Castle, Deal, Kent this Sunday and even if you don't have anything you want valued, it's worth popping along for a fascinating day out! You can find all the information here. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes

Lastly, but by no means least, Sue would like to thank everyone who has sponsored her in the Mighty South Coast Hike in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Last Saturday Sue walked 26.6 miles from Brighton Racecourse to Eastbourne and so far has raised £2,000! You will no doubt have seen her letter updating everyone, but if you would still like to give please go to https://www.justgiving.com/Susan-Cato

The galleries will close for our annual leave from 24th August and re-open on Tuesday 1st September. We do apologies for any inconvenience this may cause but look forward to seeing you any time before or after our break.

With our very best wishes,
Lennox, Sue and all at the galleries.
