First of all, our apologies for omitting last month's newsletter. The BADA Fair took over and time was limited to put one together. However, here we are with an update on future events and all our news.

It was lovely to see many of you at both the BADA Fair and the Chelsea Antiques Fair. It certainly was quite an outing for the galleries as just about all the specialists here were exhibiting at one or the other. However, our charming assistants were here in Edenbridge ready to welcome those who didn't want to bother with the hustle and bustle of the Kings Road!

We are at present extremely busy with preparations for our Spring Open Weekend which this year takes on a spring floral theme and is entitled 'A walk through the Garden of Eden'. All our specialists are saving some wonderful floral inspired antiques and works of art especially for the weekend. We are also delighted that Roger Platts from Roger Platts Garden Design and Nursery, will present a talk about his experiences in designing and creating a garden at the world famous Chelsea Flower Show.

Our own furniture specialist, Lennox Cato, has also agreed to host a talk on the use of marquetry and floral design in furniture. To add to the variety we are pleased to welcome Hansord, Antique Furniture and Works of Art. Based in Lincoln they will exhibit a selection of stock including scientific instruments, furniture and works of art.

Pimms and delicious summer canapés will be on offer as you walk through our inspiring 'garden' and all our specialists will be on hand to offer their knowledge and expertise in anything that may catch your eye.

A complimentary invitation is here for you to download.

Dianne Brick of Amherst Antiques is holding a Tunbridge Ware information session at the galleries on Saturday 25th April when she will tell the story of Tunbridge Ware. Dianne will firstly discuss the problems of identifying Tunbridge Ware pre 1800 and will then trace its development throughout the 19th century. She will also continue the story into the 20th century and will suggest some reasons for the decline of the industry. The talk will be illustrated, where possible with examples from her current stock, such as this elegant box veneered with a star burst and vandykes from the 1820's.

This will be an extremely interesting presentation particularly for those who are new to Tunbridge Ware or for those wishing to extend their knowledge. The session will start at 2pm and admission is free, however, you do need to book your place as numbers are limited. This can be done by emailing or phoning the gallery.

The beginning of June sees our porcelain specialists, Jupiter Antiques, hosting their annual Ceramics Mayfair event, although, obviously not Mayfair this year, but Edenbridge! The format will be the same with a selling exhibition of fine and rare porcelain objects acquired especially for this prestigious event. Mark and Sandra Diamond will also be joining Brad and Kevin and they all very much look forward to welcoming regular clients as well as new.

The dates to note are 4th - 6th June. More information will follow on this event in due course.

All the dates for the above events are listed in more detail in Dates for your Diary.

Lastly, we will be closed Good Friday and Easter Monday, but we will be open on Saturday 4th as usual. Wishing you all a very Happy Easter Break.

Lennox, Sue and all at the galleries.
