April Newsletter 2013

We hope this letter finds you well and not frost bitten from our recent cold spell! Let's hope spring will now deliver what it is supposed to... sunshine and warmth!

'The History of Oriental Rugs'
This is still the season for antique fairs and many of our specialists still have several to exhibit at before our Spring Open Weekend. Arash Karimzadeh of Pars Rug Gallery is no exception as he has kindly offered to present a talk just before he moves into The Decorative Fair in Battersea. Entitled, 'The History of Oriental Rugs', Arash will host this event on Friday 19th April from 7pm. We do hope you will be able to make what looks to be a fascinating evening and share the passion that Arash has for his subject. Arash will also be here in the galleries the next day to discuss any rug and carpet related queries.

Tickets cost £12 per person to include wine and refreshments. Please pre-book your place via our galleries.

'Birds, Bees and Butterflies'
As mentioned in previous newsletters our annual Spring Open Weekend takes place on 11th and 12th May and is entitled Birds, Bees and Butterflies. Please remember to pop this in your diary as it is a great way to meet all our specialists and see the wonderful pieces they have specially chosen for the weekend. Dianne Brick of Amherst Antiques will be hosting a new exhibition of further items from the Ken King Collection and will present a talk entitled 'Butterflies & Moths on Tunbridge Ware' on Saturday 18th May. For more information on this please click here. With such a delightful and spring like title, nature will certainly be in abundance here! Let's just hope the weather will complement our theme.

'Antique Centre of the Year Award'
We were delighted to find out last week that the galleries have made it through to the final 10 for the Homes and Antiques Awards 2013. A huge thank you to everyone who voted for us. We now wait with everything crossed for the results announced at The Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair in Battersea on Thursday 25th April.

Lastly, but by no means least we thought you might like to know that the galleries have a new addition to the collective... 'Tilly' the Labradoodle! You can see a lovely picture of her on our Facebook page

We look forward to seeing you soon at one of our events or whenever you feel like a boost of antique indulgence!

Our best wishes,
Lennox, Sue and all at the galleries.
