Derek & Valerie Roberts started dealing in antiques in Tonbridge in 1968, initially generally, but within a year or two specialising in clocks. In due course they built up an international reputation in this field and Derek went on to write several authoritative books on the subject. He joined the BADA in January 1974 & gained his Freedom of the Clockmakers Company in 1977; being invited to join the Livery one year later.

In 2004 the time had come to pass the business over to someone younger and we are grateful to Paul Archard for taking on this task enthusiastically and successfully, still trading under the name of Derek Roberts.

When Lennox and Susan Cato decided to open an antiques centre for BADA members this was a chance for Derek & Valerie to once again become involved in the world of antiques, but dealing more generally and on a much smaller scale and so they were amongst the first to join this venture.
