O/S 12. A swiss cylinder musical box with drums and bells by B.A.Bremond, circa 1890.
Th lever wound movement, with a three section comb, is numbered 1877. It plays 8 airs (tunes), three of which are :- Stradella Overture; Voice La Sabre by Offenbach and Waltzing Matilda. The others have not been identified.
There is a 13"(33cm) cylinder and six finely engraved bells with hammers in the form of birds which may be actuated by using a lever to the front of the box, as also can the drum, which is played on with 8 hammers.
The box, some 24" x 12.5" x 9.75", is veneered in faded rosewood and has a band running around the lid and the front of the box. In addition the lid is finely inlaid with a vase and foliage. £3,650.
