Description / Expertise
D114. Tiffany and Co. A superbly executed full size miniature silver and guilloche enamel eight day Swiss minute repeating carriage clock by Henry Capt, Geneva. Circa 1905.
The body of the silver case is decorated with fine engine turning overlaid with translucent green enamel. The shaped and fluted carrying handle has floral decoration to the centre and in front of it is the ornate push repeat button.
All five sides of the case have an outer silver border and within this a white line. The front and sides of the case have floral and foliate swags on three sides and there is a well executed eagle to the bottom front. The flared out base of the case, has floral decoration and inset within this is the fixed winding key, handset and graduated regulating disc. When the repeat button is depressed the clock first sounds the last hour on a single gong and then the last quarter on two gongs (ting-tang) and finally, on one gong, the minutes which have elapsed since the previous quarter. The clock is numbered inside the base 69958.
The silver dial, with arabic numerals and an outer minute ring, has very delicate engine turning to the centre, where it is signed by Tiffany.
Height with/ without handle:- 3.4"/2.8" (8.7/6.8cms). £ 9,750.
Signed
Tiffany
