Description / Expertise

Hepplewhite period commode chest of drawers of serpentine form, with bandings of purpleheart wood (amaranth) in the French taste. Original gilt-metal handles [Charles Elliott] and side carrying handles. The mahogany book-matched veneer drawer fronts have a wonderful golden pale colour, which is veneered onto on oak carcase. The whole is raised on four short square tapering legs ending in block feet.
